Chasing a Dream: My goals and ambitions.

This time, I want to talk about something different. The future.

Which direction?

In my previous blogs, I’ve shared stories and insights from my travels—how they’ve shaped me, the people I’ve met, and the experiences that have stuck with me. But this time, I want to talk about something different. The future.

This blog is pretty much for me, it’s to give me direction and something to aim for. If you want to read it and see what I’m dreaming of, then go ahead but I won’t be offended if you give this one a miss. (Terrible advertisement I know).

Where I Am Now

Physically I’m in Khao Sok, Thailand.

We’re almost a year into our travels, and it’s been incredible. But with funds running low, the reality is setting in—this can’t last forever. Or… can it?

I love traveling. Photography has made me love it even more. Seeing new places, meeting people with completely different perspectives, and expanding my understanding of the world—it’s addictive. But at the same time, I love home too (our parents will be glad to hear that). I miss my family, my friends, and the sense of familiarity.

So, how do I make both lives work? Is there a way to balance a life of travel with home? I think there could be.

The Plan: Turning Passion into Something Sustainable

I wonder if this man has a passion for boats?

To make this lifestyle work long-term, I need to create something that allows me to travel while also giving me the stability to come home when I want to. And I think content creation—photography, writing, and video—is possibly the answer.

1. Growing My Social Media Presence

Building a following isn’t just about numbers—it’s about exposure. The bigger my audience, the more opportunities I’ll have for people to see my work and potentially collaborate with me.

Of course, validation plays a part too. It’s great to hear encouragement from friends and family, but when strangers start appreciating your work, it hits differently. It’s proof that what I’m creating has value beyond my own circle.

2. Creating YouTube Content

I want to create videos, but right now, I’m still figuring out what my channel will look like. I’ve posted my first video, and my plan is to start with one a month, then gradually increase to two, and eventually four per month when I find a clearer direction.

I know I need to develop a style—something unique that sets me apart. Right now, my Instagram feels more focused than when I first started, and I want to bring that same clarity to YouTube. I think sharing personal experiences—the moments that are truly unique to me—is the way forward. No one else can replicate my perspective, and I want to make sure my personality comes through in these videos.

3. Funding Travel Through Content

If I can build an audience and create content consistently, I think I can make this work. The goal is for my content to eventually fund my travels. Right now, that feels like a massive challenge—almost like a dream.

At this moment, I have: 307 Instagram followers, 23 YouTube subscribers, and a small but growing blog audience.

It’s not much. But I believe I can do it. The first step was just starting, and even though I didn’t have a clear direction at first, the more I create, the more I figure it out. After starting, the next step is simple: stay consistent.

So, that’s where I am. This is the goal. It sounds easy- photograph, record stuff, edit. But I don’t think it will be. So let’s see where it takes me.

The blog was mainly for me to set out a plan in my head to give me some direction but I thought I’d share. It’s the dream, most backpackers we meet have some sort of travel page, it a crowded market with lots of competition. But nothing worth doing is easy and it’s the first time I’ve felt a drive for something.

Some more of my photography from this week! We have just been to Khao Sok National park and it was stunning!
